What to keep ready
- Your existing driving licence number and date of birth
- Form 2, filled online on Sarathi
- Form 1: self-declaration of physical fitness
- Form 1A: medical certificate from a registered doctor. Needed for transport vehicles, and some official pages also ask for it over age 40.
- Passport-size photo and signature
For a duplicate: Form 2 plus the damaged licence, or a photocopy or FIR if it was lost. Your state may ask for more.
What it costs
- Central fee list: renewal ₹200. Late renewal ₹300, plus ₹1,000 for each year or part year after the first.
- Adding a vehicle class: ₹500.
- States add their own user charges, smart-card and postage costs. The payment screen shows the final amount, and the duplicate fee appears there too.
