Voter ID: new voter and corrections
Apply as a new voter, correct your details, or download your e-EPIC. Use only the official Election Commission sites, and never pay anyone to apply.
What to keep ready
- A colour passport photo on a plain white background, 4.5 x 3.5 cm
- One age proof: birth certificate, Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence, Class 10 or 12 certificate with your date of birth, or passport
- One address proof: a utility bill up to a year old, Aadhaar, bank passbook, passport, land record, or a registered rent or sale deed. A parent’s or spouse’s proof works if they are enrolled at that address.
- A mobile number for the OTP. Aadhaar is optional.
For a correction (Form 8), add your EPIC number and proof for the item you are changing.
What it costs
- Form 6 (new voter) is free at election offices, and the Election Commission pages show no fee for the other forms.
- No official page we checked says the card itself is free. If a site or agent asks you for money, stop and call the Voter Helpline on 1950 first.
Official sites
- Voter services portal: voters.eci.gov.in
- Electoral search: electoralsearch.eci.gov.in
